No-Bake furan-acid system (No-Bake FURAN process)

NO BAKE FURAN – cold curing binder systems based on furfuryl alcohol. The speed of the curing process of furan systems is very dependent on the ambient temperature and components, but it proceeds with the release of heat (it is an exothermic reaction).

Furan resins according to the content of furfuryl alcohol can be divided into high-furan FFA 80-95%, with an average FFA content of 70-80% and low-furan (phenolfuran) with an FFA content of 45%. The nitrogen content in furan resins is usually up to 1%, but can be as high as 5%.

Solutions of organic sulfonic acids – p-toluenesulfonic acid, benzenesulfonic acid, xylene sulfonic acid, as well as their mixtures with inorganic sulfonic acids – phosphoric and sulfuric acids are used as hardeners.

The NO BAKE FURAN process is considered one of the easiest to regenerate and allows the use of up to 99% of reclaimed sand, in addition, the advantages of the system are:.
