COLD-BOX phenol-urethane system (Cold-Box-Amin process)

COLD-BOX phenol-urethane system (Cold-Box-Amin process)

Cold-Box phenol-urethane system is a process of manufacturing sand-resin rods using phenol-formaldehyde resin and isocyanate activator followed by blowing the mixture with a gaseous catalyst based on tertiary amines. A mixture of resin components “A” and “B” with sand is blown into special equipment, after which they are blown with catalyst vapors. During blowing, a uniform volumetric solidification of the rod is achieved within a few seconds. The process is suitable for all types of alloys and can be used to manufacture the most complex rods weighing from a few tens of grams to 300 kg. The advantages of the phenol-urethane system Cold-Box is:

– Low cost of energy and labor costs

– High performance

– High instant strength

– Excellent dimensional accuracy of rods and forms

– Easy punching of forms and rods
